Our rationale is supported by the successful outcomes in participants who partook in the extensive research projects of the two-year CALERIE clinical trial. SOD Superoxide Dismutase

SOD is an enzyme that catalyzes superoxide radicals into the common state of oxygen and H2O2. In 1929, Irwin Fridovich, a biochemistry professor from Duke University, first discovered the first SOD and its function in protecting organisms from negative effects of free-radicals. Fridovich was the president of the American Society of Biological Chemists, and has won the Discovery Award from the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine in 2008. According to different metal groups, there are three kinds of SODs: Cu/Zn-SOD、Mn-SOD and Fe-SOD.



CALERIE® SOD is derived from a species of Marinamoeba thermophila, found from 2,100 meters deep in the Atlantic Ocean. We went through years of exploration, lab experiments and biological engineering, to finally revealing body’s secret first line of defense, SOD. Using single cell fermentation, CALERIE® discovered heat-resistant, acid-resistant, and base-resistant SOD.
